Introduces the curriculum and how to use the tools and supplies in the program.
Shampoo and Related Theory – 70 Clock Hours
Explains basic draping, shampooing, conditioning, scalp massage, infection control.
Hair and Scalp Treatment and Related Theory – 30 Clock Hours
Cold Waving and Related Theory – 135 Clock Hours
Chemical Hair Relaxing and Related Theory – 30 Clock Hours
Hair Coloring and Related Theory – 135 Clock Hours
Manicuring and Related Theory – 70 Clock Hours
Covers nail structure, growth, disorders, infection control, manicure, pedicure, nail tips, sculptured nails and artificial nail services.
Facials and Related Theory – 30 Clock Hours
Discusses skin composition, disorders, infection control, skin care, massage, basic facials, hair removal, facial shapes and make-up essentials and techniques.
Haircutting, Styling and Related Theory – 330 Clock Hours
Explains techniques for solid form, square form, layered, graduated, over-comb and fade haircuts, thermal styling, wet styling, long hair styles and braiding.
Chemistry – 50 Clock Hours
Covers chemical bonds, pH scale and chemical properties of cosmetics, shampoos, conditioners, perms, relaxers and hair color
Salon Management and Practices – 50 Clock Hours
Covers job search and interviews, evaluating a salon, professional relationships, networking, building clientele, owning a salon, retailing and closing the sale.
Total – 1000 Clock Hours (One clock hour equals 60 minutes.)
